How do you stop users from creating resolution codes?

My user base has found that if they update status on a ticket they can hit resolution method and it gives them the Option of "Create New" and they are adding in resolution methods that have not been approved. Our resolution codes were set specifically to run reports. can anyone point me in the right direction to take the "Create New" option away?

Stephanie,

I don't have Resolution Method on my Update Status details, but if you change it to a Dropdown with the lookup="no" parameter, then they should not be able to get to the list view to see the "Create New" button.  (Assuming your list is not too long to be displayed as selection list).
