Group vs Individual in the Knowledge Article Owner Field

We have hit a wall using CASDM's Knowledge Base. Currently, we have all Knowledge Articles owned by an individual contact. The way we use it, the owner is responsible for making updates to the Knowledge Article and sending it to the Knowledge Managers for publication. The issue we constantly run into is the individual doesn't have time to do it or is no longer with that group. If the Owner field had a Group, then that means everyone in that group can review, unpublish, etc. instead of just one person. Is there a reason we can't add Groups as owners vs. Individuals?
